moving our products faster and more reliably

supply chain decisions with customers in mind

  • Planning (SOP)

SAHARA's supply chain follows a meticulously designed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure the highest quality. Starting at the source, fruit is harvested and selected based on expert-defined quality standards. The selected fruit is then transported in our trucks to the factory's intake platform, where it undergoes an initial inspection by quality check engineers. Once cleared, the fruit enters the production line for washing, cleaning, and drying, followed by a second quality check. The juicing process begins sorting & sizing with state-of-the-art evaporators and machines that ensure optimal juice extraction and quality.

  • Responsible Sourcing

SAHARA is dedicated to responsibly source from reliable and trusted farmers, building long term strategic alliances. Our oranges are grown in Menofia, a governorate in Egypt know for it's rich soil and strong farming culture. Our facilities are located within 200 km from source, so we have access to fresh produce, over an extended season due to Egypt's exceptional climate. Egypt's orange harvests have a low incidence of symptoms of the main citrus disease, greening (or Huanglongbing – HLB), that affect other major market suppliers. This is mainly due to Egypt's orange groves using yellow soil agricultural practice.

  • Innovative Processing Technology

The innovative JEVA process evaporates fruit juice at a moderate temperature (under 45°C) and ambient pressure, cutting the energy needed by 80% and preserving most vitamins. The process is also zero waste as both concentrate and condensate are products we can benefit from. Furthermore, we are a rare user in Egypt of JBT Citrus Systems (the world leader that processes 75% of the world’s juice production). The T.A.S.T.E. Evaporator (thermally accelerated short-time evaporation), provides the pasteurization and stabilization of juice during pre-heating cycle and after first evaporation stage. Finally, SAHARA uses state of art Centrifugal Separator, GEA, which is designed for liquid-based applications.

  • Distribution & Delivering

SAHARA's executive leadership have extensive experience in moving fresh food & commodities to major markets. Our streamlined distribution network directly impacts cost of goods and customer profitability. Overall, Egypt offers efficient and rapid delivery to major markets as it is strategically located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa. It's proximity to Europe, positions Egypt as an attractive nearshore location. Egypt's multiple trade agreements with Europe (EUR1), the Middle East, Africa and other major markets, make our products eligible up to 0% customs duty. All supply chain distribution and delivery decisions are made with our customers in mind.
